Thirty-two years in the same place
Kwangdong opened in Samseong-dong in 1994 and has never moved. A short history, in the hospital's own milestones.

In April 1994 a Korean medicine hospital and a clinic opened on the same day under the Kwangdong name. Western and Korean medicine were together from the first day, and the hospital has stayed at the same address in Samseong-dong, near COEX, ever since.
Staying put matters more than it sounds. Patients who came in their forties now come in their seventies, and their records are still here.
Milestones
- 1994.04 Kwangdong Korean Medicine Hospital and Kwangdong Clinic open on the same day
- 1994.09 Gasan Medical Foundation approved; construction of the current building begins
- 1999.10 Designated a residency training hospital for Korean medicine
- 2000.08 Medical partnership with Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, the first university hospital partnership
- 2007.10 Korean and Western collaborative care center introduced
- 2009.07 Registered to receive international patients
- 2015.01 Clinic and Korean medicine hospital merge into one hospital
- 2024 30th anniversary; checkup, pain rehabilitation and Korean medicine centers renewed; partnership with Samsung Medical Center
- 2025.03 Dr. Sang-Heon Cho appointed Hospital Director
- 2025.07 Partnership with Seoul National University Hospital Gangnam Center
