Our Philosophy

We do not perform surgery. Here is what we do instead.

Saying what a hospital does not do is part of being trusted. How referrals to partner university hospitals work, and why patients come back for recovery.

A therapist guiding a patient through rehabilitation

Kwangdong Hospital does not perform surgery. We say this at the start because it shapes everything else: the tests, the referrals and what happens after.

When a test or examination shows that surgery or highly complex treatment is needed, we refer the patient to a partner university hospital, such as the Seoul National University Hospital Gangnam Center or Samsung Medical Center. The referral goes with the results already done here, so tests are not repeated without reason.

After surgery

Recovery comes back to Kwangdong. Rehabilitation on 5F, inpatient recovery on 7F and 8F, and long-term care continue with the same team that saw the patient first. For rehabilitation after surgery, the center repeats the same tests used before surgery so that progress can be measured.

Our partner hospitals include Seoul National University Hospital, Samsung Medical Center, Asan Medical Center, Gangnam Severance Hospital, Seoul St. Mary's Hospital and Myongji Hospital.
