Two kinds of medicine, one set of results
Western and Korean medicine have shared one foundation here since 1994. What collaborative care looks like in practice.

Many hospitals in Korea offer either Western or Korean medicine. Kwangdong opened with both on the same day in 1994, and since 2015 they have been one hospital under one foundation.
Collaborative care became a formal system in 2007. In practice it means the physician and the Korean medicine doctor look at the same test results and agree on one plan, instead of the patient carrying papers between two hospitals.
Where it shows up
- Facial palsy: steroid treatment from neurology alongside acupuncture and inpatient care on 6F
- Dizziness: neurology, rehabilitation medicine, Korean medicine and internal medicine reading one case together
- Dementia: lecanemab and cognitive rehabilitation with Korean medicine care added when wanted
- Immunity: the same immune report used by the allergy clinic and the Korean medicine center
Korean medicine is never presented here as a replacement for Western treatment. It is an option the patient can add, with both sides aware of what the other is doing.
