A quiet lounge at the Global Health Checkup Center

Kwangdong Hospital registered to receive international patients in 2009. Today the Global Health Checkup Center and the Global VIP Desk handle patients from abroad, with coordinators on site who speak English, Japanese, Russian, Chinese and Mongolian.

Their job starts before arrival. They check the tests requested against the time available, explain fasting and bowel preparation in the patient's language, and plan the day so that results can be explained before the patient leaves Seoul.

On the day

Checkups take place on B2 and B1, with reception on 1F. Endoscopy is on the same floor as the checkup center, so a sedated gastroscopy or colonoscopy does not mean a trip to another building. A coordinator stays with the patient between stations and joins the results consultation to help with language.

If a test finds something that needs a specialist, the coordinator books the department in the same building, often for the same day or the next.

For a one-night, two-day stay, the checkup, the reading and the results consultation are all finished before departure.
